Russian MoD released graphic showing how the Il-20 was shot down.Israeli AF F-16s masked themselves behind a Russian Il-20 during their airstrike against Syrian industrial facilities in #Tartus & #Latakia. Israel also used French Navy’s frigate Auvergne in area as cover. 
4 Israeli F-16 jets attacked targets in Syria on Monday evening, approaching from Mediterranean at a low altitude. The Il-20 was on patrol in the same area.The warning came just a minute before the attack started,which did not leave time to move the Il-20 plane to a safe area.
Israelis have known that the Russian plane was present in the area, but this did not stop them from executing the provocation. As a consequence, the Il-20 was shot down by Syrian AD S-200 in response to the Israeli missiles attack.

On 3/21 rebels here killed Maj General Samea Abbas, head of the 102nd Regiment RG. On 3/25 they killed Brig General Qasi Mohammad, commander of the 415th Battalion of the 102nd.

Seems the 415th Battalion was destroyed in this battle as I can’t find any credible references to it after Qasi’s death. 102nd remained in #Aleppo until late 2017 (when deployment reports end).
