First, like @JHockenberry, I am also paralyzed and in a wheelchair. And myriad studies have shown women who are #disabled are more likely to be sexually harassed and assaulted than non-disabled women. There is, in fact, also, an entire porn culture around women in wheelchairs.

There is also a long, extended discourse about how #disabled men deserve/need sexual releases. (There is no such discourse about disabled women.) Hockenberry's editor claimed, while laughing, "he can't exactly leap up & grab someone."

Universal scorn for this jejune piece which reminds me of things I said as a junior high student being raised in an activist Socialist household.

It is unsurprising to me that black and female activists are eyerolling this piece which is another version of Sanders' "big banks! oligarchs!" stump speech from 2016. The only new item here is a brief insertion of Trump--who many feel Sanders enabled into office.
Sanders' history--modern and not--is sketchy as it is vague.
Americans love to claim this country as the oldest democracy as Sanders does, but we aren't and it's the small wrong points like this that are also irksome.

So since I was paralyzed I do my (limited) shopping online like many #disabled folks.
@OldNavy told me they'd send me an item that never made it into my order.
I said, "Please be sure you don't charge me a 2nd time."
Item just arrived.

This may sound like first world problems, but for #disabled and/or chronically ill people who are unable to shop in brick and mortar stores--which I happen to LOVE--having online retailers like @OldNavy follow through for #disabled customers matters.

I just eagerly opened my latest email from @BernieSanders.
I assumed it would be a response to yesterday's events and Trump being an unindicted co-conspirator.

Also, #disabled people are not going to stop buying from @amazon. Non-disabled people have a myriad of options that disabled people do not.
Since I was paralyzed, I have been much more reliant on Amazon, as I can no longer go out shopping. Amazon offers me that independence.

You can say the percentage of growth is up for this quarter, but it's irrelevant when wages are stagnant and the permanent tax cuts for corporations were not passed on to workers. What was passed on was higher #healthcare premiums and workfare for parents of #disabled kids.

So I went to this place for an same-day urgent consult.

When fighting Ableism, straw bans, inaccessibility, or the general oppression of society, I am uncomfortable that we tend to resort to, "What if you/your kid/your spouse/your friend/family member was disabled & needed this?"

Do NOT mistake these comments for endorsement. In 2006 I was a virulent critic of the Bush/Cheney administration and the Islamophobia that had taken root in American society.
